Following Fleming's exit, five more members of Chennai's coaching and support staff have now ended their association with the franchise. The departing members have worked with the team for several years, contributing to players' preparation, development, fitness and on-field performance.
Michael Hussey Bids Farewell to Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings shared a special post for batting coach Michael Hussey, highlighting his long association with the franchise and his contributions over the years. Hussey has been associated with CSK since the inaugural IPL season in 2008.
Expressing gratitude for his service, the franchise wrote, "You have been an integral part of the Chennai Super Kings family since the very first season in 2008."
The post further acknowledged his contribution beyond the runs he scored and the players he helped develop under his guidance. It stated, "Your journey in the yellow jersey is not just defined by the runs you've scored or the players you've mentored, but also by the dedication, humility and commitment you've shown to this franchise over the years. You will always hold a special place in our hearts, Hussey."
Eric Simons Also Parts Ways with CSK
Eric Simons, another important member of Chennai's coaching setup, has also departed from the franchise. He had been associated with the team's coaching staff since 2018 and played a significant role in building its bowling unit and contributing to its success over the years.
In its farewell message, CSK stated, "A vital part of the Chennai Super Kings coaching setup since 2018, Eric Simons has played a significant role in shaping our bowling unit and contributing to the team's success over the years. We sincerely thank you for your dedicated service and contribution. Thank you, Eric Simons. Wishing you all the very best for your future endeavours."
Assistant Coach Rajiv Kumar Also Exits
Assistant coach Rajiv Kumar is also no longer part of the Chennai Super Kings setup. He contributed to the team's preparations, player development and performance improvement over the years. His responsibilities included working closely with players, providing guidance and helping strengthen the team's foundation.
Acknowledging his contribution, CSK said in its social media post, "As a key member of the Chennai Super Kings coaching setup, Rajiv Kumar has made significant contributions to the team's preparation, development and performance over the past few years. Your dedication has been an important part of our journey. Thank you, Rajiv Kumar. Wishing you all the very best for the future."
Physio Tommy Simsek's Association Since 2008 Ends
Tommy Simsek, Chennai Super Kings' physiotherapist, is also among the five members leaving the franchise. He had been working behind the scenes since the team's inaugural season in 2008, helping players maintain their fitness and prepare for matches over the years.
In its farewell message, CSK also referred to its earlier 'Dad's Army' team, highlighting Simsek's contribution to keeping the experienced players in that squad fit and ready for competition.
Strength and Conditioning Coach Greg King Departs
Strength and conditioning coach Greg King has also ended his association with Chennai Super Kings. He played an important role in improving players' physical capabilities, preparing them for demanding matches and helping them maintain their performance throughout the season.
The five departures mark another significant change in Chennai Super Kings' coaching and support structure ahead of IPL 2027. With Stephen Fleming, Michael Hussey, Eric Simons, Rajiv Kumar, Tommy Simsek and Greg King no longer part of the setup, Zaheer Khan will take charge as head coach, while Mohit Sharma is set to oversee the team's bowling preparations for the upcoming season.
